THE TACTICS OF TRYING NEW SPOTS

Sune Nordberg has been hammering the Danish coast hard. To tell the story of this magnificent fish, we must go back to the beginning of December.

Sune Nordberg loves the Line Thru Sandeel in 19g and has been catching a lot of fish on this lure. His all-time favorite color has been Ghost. But one afternoon in December, he decided to give the Black Copper color a go. He has not taken it off since. It might be the new color, or the spot he has been hammering, but the Black Cobber color keep delivering fish in a steady flow.

Usually, Sune is going for short afternoon trips and fishing into the sunset. He has had the best fishing just before sundown and this day, due to a lot of seagrass in the water, he decided to try a new spot, him and his fishing buddy, had been talking about. His go-to technique is using short spin stops. When the seatrout is following, a stop will usually trigger a strike, the second that the Line Thru Sandeel gets momentum. This day, he felt that the seatrouts was very careful on the bite, so he changed from single hook to a treble. This triggered the strike instantly. It was clear from the beginning that it was a big fish. With several big jumps during the fight, Sune was insecure about the hook hold. But there was no reason to be. The fish ended up in the net, followed be a big roar, to be heard miles away. What an amazing fish, stretching above 70cm.

This is how Sune rigs his Line Thru Sandeel

Sune is using the Savage Gear Soft Fluorocarbon in 0,26mm. This leader material is strong, so there is no need to go bigger than 0,26mm. First, he threads on a UV bead on top of the Line Thru Sandeel followed by a small float stop. This allows him to make short twitching movements with the sandeel, but still allowing the Line Thru Sandeel to slide up the line. Before the hook, he mounts two UV beads. This gives a strike point, but also increases his hoop up ratio.
