2x1m+ pike = Great weekend!
18.05.2015
Hi guys,

We hope you have had a great weekend. Our German Savage Gear consultant and Bodden guide, Fred Kotowski, certainly did. He took customer, Sebastian, out for some pike fishing, and during the day, they struck gold twice - landing two 1m+ pike. The lures that got the pike overly excited were the Savage Gear Butch and 3D Herring Shad.

How was your weekend fishing?

Bulky Pike on the 3D Bleak Lure
11.05.2015
Here's a particularly pretty pike that was caught by our French Savage Gear consultant, Tony. The fish went headlong for the seductive S-curve action of the 3D Bleak Glide Swimmer, and the heavy pre-spawn pike put up quite a fight.

Tony kept his head cool, landed the fish quickly, and released it after a couple of quick pictures.

Weedless Presentation
05.05.2015
Here's the latest from our predator ace, Dalien Vignjevic.

"The pike fishing is picking up, and so is the vegetation. One of my favorite lakes to fish just got emerging lily pads in the shallows and it is time for topwater pike fishing.
I had some crazy strikes fishing regular 17 cm Hardeels with trebles on the back eye last year, but now I wanted that same body with a bigger silhouette and that is why I went with the 30 cm real Eel tail.

It also creates less drag and is pointed upward, therefore making subtle splashing sounds and distinctive wakes behind the bait. It works, since I got one of my biggest topwater pike so far!

I used a Savage Gear Big Pike Rod, Okuma Komodo wide body and 60 LB finesse braid to horse that fish out of heavy cover - outstanding gear!

128cm lunker pike on the 3D Trout
27.04.2015
Again a monster pike on the 30cm Line-Thru Brown Trout! Arjan, who caught a 1.21cm on the same lure only a few days previously, smashed his PB with this 1,28m lunker only days before the season closing in the Netherlands! This lure is such a big fish magnet!!!

Massive Fish Before the Season Closing
13.04.2015
Before the pike season closed in Denmark - on April 1st, Mikkel Matzen went out once again trolling for pike with big Savage Gear Real Eels, 3D Trout and Herring Shads.

Once again, one of his lures got hammered by something big and sinister - a massive pre-spawn pike that put up a superb fight.
The fish was the last in a stringer of impressive pike for Mikkel, who has been busy this Spring fishing big Jutland lakes.

Another Monster for Mikkel - Before Closing Time
08.04.2015
In Denmark, pike fishing is prohibited from 1st of April till 1st of May, and Mikkel managed to squeeze a trip in before the conservation period set in.

"When I was on this lake the last time, it turned out to be a hectic day and so I expected a lot from this day. I could not wait to get the boat in the water!

Just as I expected, it turned out to be a very hectic day, with 20-30 fish in the boat. Unfortunately the most part of them were not as big as I had hoped, however to my surprise I landed a pike in totally unheard condition – only 101cm but with a weight of 11,2kg.

If I had the slightest doubt, that softlures don’t work as well as live bait in the cold months, it’s gone now. Softlures are just as good, if not better – and definitely the way forward!"

Pre-spawn Monsters
01.04.2015
Our Danish Savage Gear consultant and predator expert, Mikkel Matzen, has been busy prior to the season closing on April 1st.

"This time, I had just put out the rods when the first fish struck. To my great joy, I could land a beautiful Pike at 109cm and 11,8kg. After a short photo session, I quickly put her back again and started to rig the rods. I had barely put the first rod back in its place, before it was violently taken. I could feel that it was a good fish, and when it was in the net, I could see that it also was a beautiful fish in very good condition. The fish was 100cm and 10,3kg. Both fish were caught on my favorite lure, the 40cm Real Eal.

After fishing in less than an hour I already had two 10+kg fish in the boat, and I was extremely excited and the adrenaline was pumping. Could I have hit one of those days we all dream of? Where everything falls out to your advantage? I hurried back out on the water and quickly put the rods back in place – I wanted to be ready for the next fish. Sadly the strikes were absent the rest of the day, but I am still very pleased with these two beautiful specimens".

Total Eclipse Madness
24.03.2015
On Friday's trip, when the sun suddenly got blotted out, the fishing just kept getting better and better, says Anthony Glascoe. Sunday followed with yet another mega session with the Crazy Blade and 3D Bleaks paving the way3. The fish were super-aggressive and they came to the lures with great confidence and ferocity!
