Happily married to my wife Jayne since 1989, we have two children, our daughter Connie and our son Joe. I was born and bred in Manchester and have lived there all my life.
Interests other than fishing include; Manchester United and working dogs, I’ve kept lurcher dogs and ferrets since I was at school.
I started coarse fishing as a young child with my Father; at the time of writing my Dad is eighty two years old and still fishing.
I started lure fishing for pike in 1987 and after several fruitless attempts, I eventually caught my first pike on the 11th November 1987...I’ve been lure fishing for pike ever since.
Unusually I’ve never caught a pike on a natural bait, my fishing is 100% lures only. I don’t travel far to fish and virtually all my fishing is urban / inner city, so I’ve never fished any of the popular UK venues known for producing big pike. The buzz for me is tricking a pike into hitting a lure!
The three keys to success
- Respect the fish you catch.
- Enjoy yourself.
- Be 100% honest.
