How to make a Punch head rig

Being able to make a proper punch rig, can be a very effective way of getting down to the fish that are close to the bottom or trolling. The Punch rig can be used on most softlures like the 4D Herring shad, 3D Goby shad or 4D River Roach.

STEP 1

Line up the punch head where you would like to fit it on the outside of the lure. We would recommend between 15 and 25mm away from the nose but test it by measuring by putting the head on top of the lure like shown in the picture. The eye of the head shall face backwards.

STEP 2

Push the frame of the punch head into the throat of the lure with the loop to the front and the retaining wire to the rear. Take care to insert it nice and straight.

Step 3

Using splitring pliers attach the supplied splitring onto the top of the loop. This will provide better movement in the lures swimming action and also stop the punch head from coming out.

Step 4

At the front end of the trace you will find a split ring and at the rear end you will find a stinger spike and the tail treble hook.

Step 5

Using any of our splitring pliers, attach the split ring from the double stinger to the steel loop at the rear of the punch head base.

Step 6

Line up the middle stinger spike on the lures stomach. Make sure the stinger trace is kept tight to the lure when doing this.

Step 7

Once lined up, push the stinger spike into the lures stomach. Repeat this process for the tail stinger spike.
